Why bother to work on getting control of your thoughts, first your conscious thoughts and then your unconscious thoughts? Because “what you think about is what comes about!” Good goals give you something worthwhile to think about.

As Yogi Berra said, “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” Napoleon Hill, in his book Outwitting The Devil, considered the habit of “drifting” to be the major cause of failure and the way the Devil controls 98% of the people in the world.
That’s why you need goals. OK then, now what are the goals you personally want to accomplish; we all have different ones. Choose yours, start thinking about them and begin to control your own destiny.
General Goal Statements top
A practical approach for people who don’t know what their goals are is to start with a general goal statement and then to refine it by adding specific details as they become more and more clear. Don’t worry about not being specific enough; that will come later. For those lucky enough to already have clear specific goals they can work backwards from their detailed goals to a general statement. We work it from both directions.
